According to multiple
reports, the Trump administration just passed down a list of words that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) cannot use in their budget documents for next year. According to this list, the CDC will actually be banned from using words like: diversity, fetus, transgender, evidence-based, science-based, vulnerable and entitlement.
This is a horrifying effort at very dangerous censorship. Sign now to demand this stupid ban is lifted immediately.The CDC is in charge of giving nationwide recommendation on public health. Removing words like "evidence-based" and "science-based" out of the possible vocabulary will completely cripple the organization from doing its job.
In some cases, they offered an alternative word.
For example: instead of "science-based" or "evidence-based," the suggested phrase is "CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes,".
This is outrageous. The CDC is not supposed to mix science with cultural beliefs, they are supposed to provide the best evidence we have for healthy practice.
Even worse, the Trump administration didn't even offer an alternative for "transgender". The administration would rather just pretend some people don't exist because they don't want to deal with them.
We must insist on health information being freely disseminated by the experts in charge of it. Please sign to tell the Trump administration to end this absurd effort at censorship, for the health of the nation.
