Permanently Suspend The Ryan Haight Act

  • van: Mark Elliott
  • ontvanger: US Congress/Drug Enforcement Agency

The Ryan Haight Act was passed in 2008 to prevent fraudulent pharmacies from dispensing controlled substances without doing a medical evaluation in person. The act has been suspended in the setting of the COVID-19 public health emergency, and it has become clear that the requirement set by Ryan Haight to see patients in person prior to prescribing a controlled substance restricts access to care, particularly in rural communities.

We, licensed United States prescribers, believe that the Ryan Haight Act should be permanently suspended to ensure ongoing access to care throughout the United States and Outlying Areas.
