Protect India's Widows

In India many people still regard widows as unlucky and superfluous. They are evicted from their homes by their own relatives and have no income to live from. Often these women who have spent their lives looking after their children and husband have no alternative but to travel hundreds of miles to find shelter in ashrams. Begging is often their only option. This inhumanity has to stop.

Educating the population so they no longer see widows as a threat to their family's fortunes is essential. So is providing incomes and decent housing for women already on the streets.

Please ask the Indian government to stop the injustice inflicted on widows. Widows deserve an income and decent housing. They deserve respect from their family.
