Keep the Mary Knol House in its rightful place. Do not dismantle and move it.

Mary Knol's house, what many call "the witch's house", has been a historic and powerful landmark in the greater milwaukee area for decades. Its beauty is ingrained in its environment, and dismantling and moving it will remove its essence and positive presence in our community. Do not let the elite few who believe it to be "unsightly" and an issue of overly attracting "undesirable" people to their secluded area to dismantle this living work of art! Sign this petition to state we must keep Mary's house where it belongs, where it was inteneded to be, on Lake Michigan in Fox Point. Show support for the zoning changes that would be necessary to keep this historic landmark in place:

The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, which owns the art-infused property, came to the "heartbreaking decision" when it became clear that residents of Fox Point would not support the zoning changes needed for limited public access, perhaps a few thousand visitors per year, said Michael P. Cisler, president of the arts center's board. "I've been trying to save Mary's environment for 27 years," said Ruth Kohler, director of the arts center, who knew Nohl personally for many years. "We've worked with a lot of art environments, from as far away as New York and Louisiana, and we've always been able to change the minds of the village or town that the site was in. We've never had a complete stalemate like this before."
