Tell employers to give all employees Election Day off!

When it comes to participation in elections, the United States ranks 26th out of 32 countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development behind places like the U.K., Canada, and Mexico. In 2016, only 61.4% of registered voters participated in the presidential election. That's 76 million unheard voices.

Much of this low voter turnout can be attributed to low accessibility. Election day is not currently a federal holiday, and subsequently a large number of working voters are unable to make it to the polls.

Working communities shouldn't have to decide between putting food on the table and casting their ballot. Add your name to tell employers to give all employees Election Day off!

The voters that suffer from inconveniences like these are the historically marginalized ones — people from vulnerable communities or those in poverty. To truly have fair and free elections, we need an overhaul of our election culture that protects everyone's right to vote.

With a landslide of Republican voter suppression bills coming through at the state level, and our national representatives in stalemate with the GOP-backed filibuster, we desperately need all the accessible voting initiatives we can get.

Sign here to tell employers to do their part in ending voter suppression, and give all employees Election Day off!
