Make ATV's Street Legal in PA.
My goal is to give atv enthusiast the opportunity to ride on state and township roads excluding the interstate highways. ATV operators should have the same opportunity motorcycles have with safety alterations which include:
-A town horn
-front and back brakes
-headlights and tail lights
-brake light
-running lights(license plate light)
-turn signals
-rearview mirror
-foot rests
- DOT approved helmets
Other items may be added to this list if it is in the best interest to make atvs street legal and safe.
We the undersigned Wish to make ATV's street legal. A major Bennifit to having atvs street legal would be increased revenue to the state of PA. The state could add and atv endorsement to the drivers lisence wich would increase revenue to pendot. ATV's already have to be lisenced and insured. Many of the larger ATV's can travel at Highway speeds with top speeds of over 65 mph. A good example of Safty is a pothole in a road if one of the four atv tires hit that pothole the driver has a better chance of mantaing control and preventing an accident than on a motorcycle. Also ATV's are more fuel efficient than cars or trucks thereby reducing the emmissions produced on our roadways to keep PA beutiful for our future generations.
