This petition is to bring to your attention the procedures and policies that Indian River County Florida apply to Children of Sex Abuse in the court system. My niece was molested in October 2007 by her Grandfather, who was arrested and released on bail. My brave niece who DID NOTHING WRONG and who came forward now has to face the man who committed these awful crimes on her. If he was being prosecuted in Orange County Florida my niece could give her evidence from a room behind the courtroom with a live video feed. But in Indian River Florida she has to face her molester, I cannot express to you how terrifying this is to a child. As her Aunt I want to drop all charges and protect her from having to go through this, as in my eyes she is being abused all over again, but through the eyes of a citizen I know I have to protect other children from this DEVIANT. I would like to know why this policy would be so hard to implement into the court system. I am aware that the defendant has a right to meet his accuser but what about the rights of the children, haven%u2019t they been through enough!!
