Each year, 56 billion innocent animals are slaughtered for food; that's over 1,000 animals per second! In the world, cows are raised for two reasons, either milk or meat. Female cows are used for their milk, but when they aren't making enough, they are sent to slaughter houses and killed for food.
Calves born on dairy farms stay with their mother they are old enough to be slaughtered, or they are separated from their parents at only 12 hours old. Calves are fattened for slaughter in fattening sheds which are filthy, crowded, and dark. When the calves begins to grow their horns, they are burned off at one week, or severed with an iron when they are about 2 months old.
By the time they're 11 to 12 months old, they are shoved into crammed trucks and shipped long distances to slaughter houses. By the time they arrive they are tired and stressed. After arriving, the calves are shot with captive bolt pistols as an attempt to make them unconscious. Afterwards, they are hung by the legs, and are often conscious while their throats are slit open. The next time you eat a piece of veal think about the pain this beautiful creature had to endure for one meal!
To humans, Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate and be thankful for what we have, but what do turkeys have to be happy for? To them, Thanksgiving is nothing more than a time of death. A time when they are separated from their families, and killed for someone to eat them.
Please stop eating our animal friends, let them live wild and free with their families, not in sheds and slaughter houses! They don't deserve to suffer!
