Police K9s deserve Department issued ballistic vests

I see so many police departments with K9 officers that have no ballistic protection. All their human officers are required to be outfitted with body armor, but they neglect their K9s. They often await donations to equip their dogs with vests.
Police Departments should be required to equip their K9s with vests, just like they do their human officers.
