Republican Senator Dean Heller likes slamming his political opponents, but only if he can do it through his campaign staff. Apparently, those nasty ads he's running against Representative Shelley Berkley are too unpleasant to repeat to the media with his own lips.
Heller's campaign has accused Berkley, a Democrat, of using her political power to benefit her husband financially. But, when asked about the attack ads, Heller said he was content to let the House Ethics Committee investigate the issue. He did not repeat or endorse ad content. Instead, he referred questions about the attack ads to his campaign.
This is exactly the kind of thing that makes Americans weary and cynical about elections. If Heller thinks Berkley did something wrong, he should say so in public. If he doesn't have the courage of that conviction, he shouldn't let his own campaign make vicious and damaging claims against his opponent. Tell Heller to own up to negative campaigning and take responsibility for his own attack ads.

Your campaign has launched accusatory and harsh ads against your opponent Shelley Berkley. These ads accuse her of unethical behavior. If you agree with the content of these ads, you should be willing to own up to that opinion in public and when talking to the media. If the ads do not represent your own beliefs, they should not be running.
Take responsibility for your own campaign! Don't hide behind it.
