Stop Florida's Black Bear Hunt!

Starting October 24, 2015, Florida black bears are again in the crosshairs for the first time in more than two decades — unless caring people like you and I can stop the killing.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) has approved a black bear hunting season that could claim the lives of up to 320 of the state's 3,100 black bears. Permits only cost $100, and 2,300 hunters have won permits, including extremist animal killer Ted Nugent.

Hunting black bears is a cruel, unsustainable solution to overpopulation concerns. And with more than 2,000 hunters already signed up (almost 3/4 of the total bear population), it will be hard to keep track of how many bears are killed. The hunt could easily spiral out of control.

Please urge Florida's Governor Rick Scott to cancel the hunt and maintain the ban that has been in place since 1994!

Governor Scott,

As you know, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC) has approved a black bear hunting seasonthat will begin October 24. Up to 320 of the state's 3,100 bears could be killed.

I believe that hunting black bears is a cruel, unsustainable solution to overpopulation concerns. And with more than 2,000 hunters already signed up (almost three-fourths of the total bear population), it will be hard to keep track of how many bears are killed. The hunt could easily spiral out of control.

I respectfully urge you to stop the hunt and maintain the ban that has been in place since 1994. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.

Sincerely,
