End Truck Driver "In-Cab Camera" Monitoring, Now!

Commercial insurance companies across the country are requiring Dash Cams to be installed on commercial vehicles. Dash Cams recording the road as a driver drives is not a problem. I think it's a great solution to help in the mitigation process of an accident. The problem is that insurance companies are now requiring trucking and transportation companies to place a rear facing or dual recording camera on commercial vehicles to record the interior cab of the vehicle.

Companies offering Drive Cams like the one pictured, state that the camera only records during a critical event but there has been several proven instances where a driver or the Sleeper cab of the truck has been recorded without an event occurring. I, as well as commercial truck drivers across America believe that this is a violation of our privacy and constitutional rights. We do not blame the companies that we work with for enforcing the Insurance companies requirements. We blame the Insurance companies and believe that it is unconstitutional for them to force our companies to install cameras to record the inside of the cab of a Sleeper vehicle.

A bill needs to be created making it unlawful for insurance companies to deny and/or increase insurance rates to a trucking company for not installing a dash cam that records the drivers activity while inside the cab, even while the vehicle is stationary and the driver(s) off duty.
