Trump Wants to Bring Back Racist 'Stop and Frisk' Policing!

Speaking before the International Association of Chiefs of Police, President Trump called for cities around the United States to have their police departments implement the type of stop-and-frisk tactics employed in New York City in the 2000s and early 2010s.

The problem with this is that, not only was this practice ruled by a federal judge to be unconstitutional, it is also both ineffective and inherently racist. In 1968, the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Terry v. Ohio upheld the use of stop-and-frisk — but only in situations of "reasonable suspicion." This is not how the NYPD operated. Instead, they simply performed on-the-street searches of anyone they wanted to without good reason.

In the past the International Association of Chiefs of Police has publicly admitted to a history of mistreating people of color. Now it's time for them to actually take a stand and do something to prevent mistreatment of people in the future.

Please add your name to call on the International Association of Chiefs of Police to keep their promise of treating all citizens with respect by denouncing Trump's suggestion and the use of unconstitutional stop-and-frisk policies!
