Women abused by their husbands

I know a friend whose husband has abused her in front of her children. He was able to plea not guilty and continue to be on the streets. This is a widely spread problem. I think men who has been charged for this crime not to be able to plea not guilty. Just to be sent to jail as soon as he is accused.
