More than 60 animals were reportedly found suffering in horrifying conditions inside one Maryland property. Authorities say dozens of dogs and cats were confined in dark basements, garages, and sheds without proper ventilation or air conditioning. Many animals were trapped inside overcrowded crates, forced to stand and lie in urine and feces.

The person responsible was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but anyone capable of allowing this level of prolonged suffering needs meaningful rehabilitation and long-term intervention.

Sign the petition to demand a lifetime ban on animal ownership and mandatory mental health counseling following this animal cruelty conviction.

Veterinarians reportedly found animals suffering from emaciation, broken teeth, skin conditions, untreated masses, infections, parasites, and tick-borne diseases. Some animals were so overheated they required emergency cooling measures just to survive. Some conditions were so severe they could not be treated.

Thankfully, many of the surviving animals have since been rehomed through shelters and rescue groups.

But prison time is not going to meaningfully improve this person's attitude towards animals. Without treatment and accountability, there is a serious risk that animals could be harmed again after release.

Sign the petition now to urge authorities to pursue a lifetime animal ownership ban and mandatory mental health counseling to help prevent future harm and protect vulnerable animals.
