Cat declawing is a very bad practice for many reasons. Cat declawing isn't what many people think. it isn't just taking out the claw, it is actually taking out a whole bone. It is basically the equivalent of snipping of your fingertips and I am sure most of you don't want to have your fingertips amputated. Declawing can also cause bone and balance problems. Cats naturally walk on their toes, but declawing messes up their balance by making them shift their weight to their wrists which also causes all sorts of bone problems. Also, it doesn't help much because they only bite more if they don't scratch and it also causes litter box problems due to pain in their paws. It hurts so much for our friends that it is used to test painkillers! There are so many other ways to keep cats from scratching other that having them declawed. In my opinion, it is an inhumane and barbaric practice that never should have started. I care about our furry friends and hope that they will soon never have to endure the pain of declawing and I also hope you can help me by signing my petition to ban declawing once and for all.
