Stop Nepal's Gadhimai festival animal sacrifice

The Gadhimai festival is held every 5 years and with are lost hundreds of thousands of precious lives. The festival, held to appease the goddess Gadhimai, apparently demands the ritual slaying of as many animals as possible. The last ritual slaying in 2009 saw an estimated 500,000 animals killed. That's half a million. HALF A MILLION!!

November 2014 will see the next festival and subsequent slaughter of another several hundred thousand animals. For no fault of their own. To say this is barbaric is an understatement. It's obscene! Despite countless appeals and protests, the Nepal government still chooses to look the other way. But the time has come to move forward. Awareness must be created so devotees know ritual sacrifice serves no purpose. We, therefore, petition the Nepal government to act now.
