Demand an End to leg traps used to capture wildlife on Long Island New York

Leg traps are used by universities and other institutions in order to capture and study foxes and various other wildlife. Leg traps are horrible ways to do any type of study/capture.

These traps designed to grasp an animal by the leg using spring-operated metal jaws. They cause incredible pain, injury, maiming, and even dismemberment. Animals caught in them are often so desperate, so terrified and in so much pain they they will amputate themselves by biting off the limb that's been trapped.

When an animal is trapped in one of these devices, there is no escape for them. They will either die, lose a limb, eat their limb off to escape, or have a horrible life afterward.

Also, other animals get unintentionally caught in these traps, too. Dogs, cats, birds, animals of rare species — not just the ones that the universites want to study.
