Save the Elephants, Support Kenya's Call for Global Ivory Moratorium!

It’s no secret. Elephants are in grave danger. Kenya's First Lady want to stop the Ivory Trade. Let's help her!

Kenya's first lady Margaret Kenyatta on Thursday called on the international community to place a moratorium on ivory trading in order to save the elephant from extinction.

Margaret who has launched an anti-poaching campaign dubbed "Hands off our Elephants," whose main objective is to educate Kenyans and the world on the need to conserve the elephant for posterity also called on the world to help Nairobi save her elephants.

"To address the problem of poaching there requires global action and we ask our friends especially those where ivory is in demand and where domestic ivory markets exist to help us," she said.

The threat is huge - poachers, black markets, crime syndicates - that countries can’t stop it anymore. That is why Kenya is now calling for a moratorium on global Ivory trade.

This mean so more legal Ivory markets, no more shipments of Ivory from Africa to Asia, and stronger global enforcement of black markets. This could mean a needed a respite for Elephants, whose numbers have been dropping dramatically.

The sale of Ivory ANYWHERE is inhumane, and unjust. Thousands of Elephants are killed each year just for their turks, leaving giant carcasses rotting in the savannahs. Age doesn’t matter as even a small amount of Ivory is more than worth it.
