The Harris County Commissioners Court, under the leadership of Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, with the support of Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, and Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis, has hired a consulting firm, PFM Group Consulting, to review the county's criminal justice system.
The report has been compiled by PFM, and, the report recommendations, if approved by Harris County Commissioners Court, would have dire consequences for citizens currently benefitting from the law enforcement provided by Harris County Constables Offices.
Specifically, some highlights from the PFM report include:
*Placing ALL law enforcement (Constables Offices) under the Harris County Sheriff's Office,
*Funding Constables ONLY for statutory, civil, and JP duties,
*Reducing Constables from 8 to 4
These proposals are NOT based on community need. Implementing the results of this study could mean NO more Harris County Constables patrolling our communities.
