End Harassment and Discrimination at the Boerne YMCA

UPDATE: The director of the YMCA has agreed to speak with me and review all of the comments made on my petition this Friday. He will also be reviewing Reiza's conduct in the workplace. Full story: The photo above is what I was wearing when I was told today at the Boerne ymca that my outfit was "inappropriate", despite there being no stated dress code anywhere inside the gym or on their website, except one line on obscure poster that reads "please dress appropriately". I'm pretty sure athletic shorts and a tank top is gym appropriate. Apparently, "older clientele" were complaining because my workout shorts were "distracting". I was then told by an employee that even though they could not enforce a dress code, they wanted me to be aware of how I might be presenting MY body in an inappropriate way. I'm wearing loose athletic shorts and a tank top. My question is, why is your issue with me wearing normal gym clothes, and not the fact that older men or women who are members of your gym are staring at a College age girl's body inappropriately and being distracted by it? If no one was looking at my body in an inappropriate way, or hyper-sexualizing a young girl in workout shorts, there would have been no need for complaint from "older clientele" in the first place. The excuse given to us by the ymca management was that they are a "Christian family gym", and my adidas shorts somehow contradict those value. In response, I will quote Matthew 18:9, a scripture discussing lust and modesty: "and if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell". This is how institutionalized sexism and rape culture are perpetuated on a smaller scale, and it is occurring within a Christian organization. "Do not teach women how to prevent harassment, teach others not to harass." I would like the YMCA to end the discrimination and sexualization of the appearance of young girl's bodies in workout clothes, for Rezia Olson, a member of the Boerne YMCA management, to be held professionally accountable for her ongoing assertions and inappropriate work behavior, have no bias and treat all paying customers with the same level of respect regardless of age, not attempt to enforce an ambiguous dress code that allows for isolation and discrimination against certain members, and add an anonymous letter box for women or men who feel physically or sexually threatened by other gym goers or staff members, or are dissatisfied by the customer service at the YMCA. If you would like to see all or even some of these changes implemented, please sign my petition for reform within the Boerne YMCA. If you have any additional complaints or stories about mistreatment concerning the YMCA, specifically about Rezia Olson, I would love to hear about them, as we will be presenting this petition to the YMCA director, and possibly corporate offices of the YMCA. These stories will be kept confidential from the public if you select not to show your name, but shown to YMCA directors, management, or cooperate offices.
