Sault Ste Marie Humane Society does not have the best intentions of the animals.
a friend of mine recently decided he was ready to add to his family, so he brought his wife & kids to the shelter. Arriving they noticed that the adoption cages were FULL. they decided on a dog for their family. so he took her name tag up to the front to get the adoption started. (Obviously his kids were beyond excited)
He was handed an adoption form & then was told "we accept applications for the dogs & when we feel we have received enough applicants for that dog, we will go through the apps & if you win we will contact you" . Blown away by this my friend asked "how long is the adoption process" ... he was told a week.
so what i am learning here is 1. it's a lottery to adopt from our shelter & 2. they would rather keep the animals in small cages for longer periods then what they should be there for.
I understand keeping an animal longer due to health issues etc.
while he was there he also noticed that they had NO food or water in their cages & a poor girl who had no mobility in her front legs was laying on hard concrete. no food or water & she had 1 blanket that was cover feces.
to me this is animal abuse. it's disgusting & they are supposed to be the people who are advocates for our homeless animals !
it's time we get people in there who want to run this place right.
Sault Ste Marie Humane Society is privatized. they do NOT belong to the SPCA organization & they are a kill shelter.
it's time to give these animals a voice.
