Give 10-Year-Old Sarah Murnaghan a Life-Saving Lung Transplant

  • van: Loretta Metzler

Sarah Murnaghan is only ten years old, but she's facing death in five weeks' time from her cystic fibrosis. She needs a lung transplant, and fast -- but the current rules in place mean that she likely won't receive one in time.

If Sarah were just two years older, she'd be eligible to be on the "adult transplant" list, which is much shorter than the juvenile one. And it's not as if adult lungs wouldn't work for her. If modified correctly, an adult lung transplant could conceivably save Sarah's life.

Sign this petition for human rights to allow this ten year old the right to life since she is perfectly innocent in causing her illness.  Sarah is a vibrant lovely young girl; she has to be the exception to any rule keeping her from receiving the next set of lungs available.  It is urgent that this be done the sooner the better.

Sign the petition to ask U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to overrule the nation's lung transplant policy and save Sarah's life today!

I am calling on you to use your position as U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary to save ten-year-old Sarah Murnaghan, who has just five weeks to live.

Sarah suffers from cystic fibrosis and has been on the lung transplant list for 18 months. If she were just two years older, it's likely that she would have lungs already -- as it is, she probably won't get to the top of the juvenile transplant list in time.

Sarah desperately needs your help. Please overrule the nation's lung transplant policy to give her the pair of adult lungs she needs -- before it's too late!
