For nearly 30 years, McKee Ranch Foundation has been a cherished part of the Las Vegas community. Located on Dean Martin Drive, this family-run nonprofit animal rescue and sanctuary was founded in the late 1990s and has since provided a safe haven for farm animals that have nowhere else to go.
The ranch is one of the only sanctuaries in the area that accepts surrendered roosters — animals that are frequently abandoned because they are not permitted in residential neighborhoods. In addition to caring for roosters, the ranch rescues and houses horses, goats, pigs, chickens, and other farm animals. For decades, McKee Ranch has opened its gates to families, school groups, and visitors, offering educational experiences, seasonal events, and the rare opportunity for children to interact with farm animals in an increasingly urban Las Vegas.
Now, Clark County Animal Control has issued a fine and given the ranch just one week to remove it's roaming roosters — animals that have lived peacefully on the property and have long been part of the ranch environment. This action comes amid new residential development being built behind the ranch.
We are calling on Clark County officials to:
-Halt the removal order.
-Recognize McKee Ranch's long-standing rescue status.
-Work collaboratively toward a reasonable solution that protects both the animals and the surrounding community.
-Preserve McKee Ranch as a historic and valuable part of Las Vegas.
