There is a brown bear in Italy who is making waves by being "
an escape genius", thus his nickname: Houdini. Houdini was caught by Italian rangers after getting too close to people and somehow got free from 3 electric fences and a four ft barrier!
But now authorities have ordered his death. Will you sign on to ask Italian authorities not to kill this special animal?He was initially caught in what's called a tube trap, which is the most humane was to trap a bear, so hopefully they use that again. It makes sense that they don't want our friend Houdini too near to a town where he could become accustomed to people food and potentially endanger a community. But that certainly doesn't mean he should die!
Houdini is an Alpine Brown Bear, only 1 of about 50 of his kind in the area. It would not only be cruel to kill him, it would be tragic for the population!
