He knows he should have followed those instructions and regrets acting on impulse when he knows he shouldn't have, but he's pleading for another chance because HE KNOWS HE CAN DO BETTER. He's only distractible because of his Attention Deficit Disorder condition, and when something distracting captures his attention, it's hard for him to turn it off. That's why he was distracted by conducting searches he shouldn't have conducted and sent a private message he KNOWS he shouldn't have sent.
