Iran: Stop Withholding Medical Care From Prisoners to Force Confessions

Iran, not known for its human rights record, is at it again: this time being accused by Amnesty International for withholding medical care from prisoners in order to force confessions.

Medical care, including access to necessary medications, is a right for prisoners and to refuse this care is a blatant form of torture, intending to pry confessions from potentially innocent prisoners in order to receive the care that they need.

This must stop. Prisoners must be allowed medical care as they await trial and Iran must not be allowed to continue abusing their prisoners.

Sign today to stand with prisoners in Iran. By signing today you are sending a strong message that prisoners' rights matter in Iran.

To President Rouhani,

As a person concerned with the rights of all people, I find it abhorrent that Iran is being accused of failing to provide access to medical care to its prisoners in hopes of getting a confession.

This is a form of torture and is a violation of humans rights. It must stop immediately. Confessions under torture are not generally true confessions and the use of torture is explicitly banned by the United Nations.

I demand that you immediately stop this torture practice in your country and allow prisoners access to the medical care they need.
