Tens of thousands of horses are shipped to Mexico every year, where they are brutally slaughtered!

65,915 horses were exported to Mexico in 2018, and 62,832 were shipped the prior year, according to the Paul Lick Report.
The suffering these horses endure is beyond imagining...
"They are hauled in crowded trailers as far as 1,000 miles.
"Many end up in unregulated slaughterhouses, where they are sometimes paralyzed with knife stabs in their backs, leaving them conscious as their throats are slit," said Salon.
They went on to say: "Mexican slaughterhouses, which export meat to Europe, are supposed to uphold horse-welfare standards similar to U.S. rules."
But what oftentimes REALLY happens, is horrific cruelty.
"Hammers and small knives called puntillas are sometimes used to stun horses," said Aline Schunemann-Hofer de Aluja, a veterinary pathologist at Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
Meanwhile, The Humane Society of the United States and San Antonio Express-News have reported that: "workers repeatedly jabbed puntillas into horses' spines" to paralyze them.
They remain "conscious and able to feel pain as they're hung up and bled to death."
What kind of human being could do this to another living thing, let alone a gentle and majestic animal like a horse?

Senator Bernie Sanders has been a long-term advocate for animal rights, and has co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation to protect endangered species, as well as to combat animal cruelty.
That's why we're asking him to lead a movement in Congress that would ban the export of American horses for the purpose of slaughter in Mexico.
