The Issue
A Healthier WE believes that every person—no matter their income, race, geography, gender —deserves access to the care, support, and conditions necessary to live a healthy life.
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates The Big Beautiful Bill will cause 10.9 million people to lose health insurance by 2034. This is just unacceptable. In a country as wealthy and advanced as the United States, no one should suffer or die because they can't afford a doctor, fill a prescription, or live in a safe environment. Health is not a luxury or a privilege. Health is a human right.
We call on all local, state, and federal leaders to:
1. Recognize health as a basic human right.
Pass resolutions and legislation that enshrine the right to health for all people into law.
2. Ensure access to affordable, high quality comprehensive care.
Guarantee affordable, quality physical, mental, and public health services for all.
3. Invest in the conditions that create health.
This includes clean air and water, safe housing and work conditions, living wages, healthy food, and strong public health systems—especially in marginalized and underserved communities.
4. End health inequalities
Address the root causes of inequity in our health system and eliminate systemic racism, poverty, and discrimination that put lives at risk.
5. Hold systems accountable to the people they serve.
Include community voices—especially those most impacted—in designing health policy and ensure public oversight of institutions that affect our well-being.
This is a moral issue. This is a democracy issue. This is a future-of-America issue.
It's time we build a society where health is not bought or rationed - but protected and promoted - for everyone.
