The laws against landlords in Texas are a joke. If your rich enough to pay an expensive lawyer your nothing here.
We live in a rural area, very quite. But that's the only nice thing. We rent a small house. The plumbing was illegal but over time leaks, overflowing toilets and outside tanks. Having to bend over to turn water on n off. Finally about 6 months ago we tell out landlord. Plumbers come fix minor stuff and tell us they be back to do more. They never come back. Now plumbing is worse we tell her that raw sewage is under house in backyard, under bathroom and kitchen windows. A guy and a plumber show and take a look. Weeks pass and nothing. We go to pay rent and we get in return a NOTICE NOT TO RENEW OUR LEASE.!! That's retalitation every where I've read. We contact legal aid and probonos, they tell is nothing can be done here. We are living and breathing raw sewage, our own waste and now without being rich enough we can't do anything about this problem? We have done nothing wrong here!! Congress needs to set stronger penalities against slumlords. They needs to pay the way we are and not be allowed to do this to human beings or anything living period!!
