Dear Precision Promise Team and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network:
We are a group of your staunchest supporters. We are pancreatic cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. We promote your organization, raise funds for you, and personally donate to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
For the past few years, many of us have been awaiting your Precision Promise program. To know that around the corner would be access to personalized clinical trials, new treatments and drugs truly gave us hope in the here and now. However, progress toward launch has become a moving target, and now we see that expectations have moved to "some time in 2019" - a full two years later than originally indicated. As we all know, most PDAC patients do not have that luxury of time.
A few years back, we understood that Precision Promise would be available to stage IV patients. We are now shocked and devastated to learn that Precision Promise will initially be offered only to treatment- naive patients as their first or second line of treatment. Most of us have been through a myriad of treatments and trials and therefore don't qualify. We are doing everything to hang around the hoop long enough for something precisely like Precision Promise to become available.
Please reconsider Precision Promise's eligibility requirements, and make this program reflective of PANCAN's patient-centric roots. Specifically, we ask that you add another arm to all future treatment lines, so long as the patient agrees. Please, help us wage hope by including us in Precision Promise.
