Safety Measures to Protect from Sexual Harassment

Many women have been sexually molested in crowds during Umrah/Hajj in Makkah and other places. This has included inappropriate touching while taking their elderly mother in a wheelchair, breasts being fondled while touching the kaba, and bottom being grabbed during a busy time at tawaaf. For some women, it has happened more than once. It is not easy to identify the perpetrator due to the number of people and the stealth with which it is done.

The purpose of this petition is to raise awareness that these abhorrent assaults are taking place, and the fact that women need safety measures in place. The petition will be used to notify the travel agents selling Umrah/Hajj packages to offer Personal Safety awareness/training to women travelling to Makkah. It will also be used to notify the Saudi Arabia embassy that there is a problem which requires protective measures.
