Documented cases of animal cruelty in Oklahoma are being ignored! Rattlesnakes are having their mouths sewn shut for the purpose of pictures. These snakes are dying slow and tortured deaths. §1685 AND §1680.1 Department of Agriculture Cruelty to Animal laws already on the books are being ignored. Dear Law Makers and Law Enforcment Officials of Oklahoma:
We respectfully ask you to end the needless torture and cruelty of rattlesnakes at roundups in Oklahoma. Picture and video evidence has been made available to you and to the public documenting the cruel treatment of rattlesnakes, and all we ask is that you uphold current animal abuse laws in Oklahoma. Faiure to provide food, water, and shelter to any animal in Oklahoma is against the law and is a felony offense. Sewing an animals mouth shut is not just against the law but is needless cruelty.
Rattlesnakes are being placed in a freezer for "about two hours" in order to slow them down so their fangs can be ripped from their mouths and then have their mouths sewn shut. The snakes are then put on display for the purpose of money making pictures. They spend hours in agony dying slowly from lack of food/water, stress, and shock.
Please end this cruelty and uphold laws that are currently on the books in Oklahoma. Patrol rattlesnake roundups in Oklahoma and prosecute those guilty of felony animal abuse.
