Bearcountability Petition

The purpose of this petition is to raise awareness to Student Government and the administration about the concerns of the Student Body regarding Student Government's spending and appropriation practices. This petition also asks that Student Government restructure how budgets are appropriated and that they take tangible steps to improve transparency of their spending.


This petition specifically asks that:

• Bills over $6,000 allocated to one project or item go through an external approval process (i.e., approval from 2/3 of boards and 2/3 of tribunals)

• Emails be sent to cabinet specifically highlighting bills over $6,000

• The student court that is already written into the constitution is established and given the tools to function properly and hold Student Government accountable

• A cap be implemented on retreats so that no more than $2,000 is spent for on-campus retreats and $3,500 for off campus retreats
