Please sign and share this petition in an effort to stop the idea of building a mall within the Grand Canyon, taking away from its beauty, the environment and the wildlife that frequents the area. The Grand Canyon is a beautiful tourist attraction which would lose all that it represents with the construction of a mall!
The Grand Canyon is a major tourist attraction with gorgeous terrains, extreme dynamic sunsets and some of the most natural and unique landmarks. A project now known as the Grand Canyon Escalade proposes a mall that would include shops, a tramway, restaurants, and all other manner of gaudy, touristy miscellany that lies between the Colorado Rivers.
Those proposing this mall project actually believe that there are no natural, sacred, special aspects of the Grand Canyon. They are also in opposition of the rafting permits granted by the National Park Service that draws thousands of people annually.
Additionally, this mall project would infringe upon the expressed land acreage of the Navajo tribes that have been there for more than 50 years. The Confluence of the rivers, a group organized by the Navajos was formed with the express intent of keeping the Grand Canyon Escalade from becoming a reality. We have to express our concerns as well to stop this project from moving forward in such a historic and beautiful area such as the Grand Canyon. Confluence Partners of the Colorado-based Environmental Insurance Firm - Please do not go any further with these efforts to build a noisy, overbearing shopping mall with all types of shops, restaurants and more that would nothing more than bring in revenue while taking away from the natural beauty and environment that tourists look for in the majestic Grand Canyon. This tourist attraction will never be the same with this mall project that will disturb the environment, wildlife, nature and gorgeous landmarks that only can be seen when visiting the Grand Canyon. Let folks take in this breathtaking attraction of fun, nature and gorgeous sunsets!
