Pull Kerrie-Anne Kennerley into line

The negative statements made by Kerrie-Anne Kennerley on the Studio 10 show in relation to Aboriginal people and communities were erroneous and Ms Kennerley needs to be pulled into line. This is now being copied by other networks in support of Ms Kennerley. This week she has articles in print media making the same stereotypical comments. No-one is arguing that there are not problems in many communities, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, but this kind of comment in the national media is potentially damaging to situations already impacted by complex issues. An article published on 4th February 2019 by Gerry Georgatos in relation to the tragic situation of suicide in Aboriginal communities, particularly amongst young people, highlights one of those devastating issues. It should be given wide publicity accompanied by demands for action. Media has a duty of care to accurately research when presenting critical issues. People's lives should not be treated as throwaway lines by those in positions of power. A trip to the outback by Ms Kennerley will not compensate for the damage she is doing. We demand that Ms Kennerley retract the statements she has made and refrain from such ill-informed comments in the future.
