Establish food standards in Belize

Whereas, Belize lacks a national food certification system that has standards for natural, organic or pesticide-free food products; and,

Whereas, such lack of national standards retards development of value-added food items, both domestic and import, and diminishes consumer choice; and,

Whereas, such lack of national standards jeopardizes food security and safety;

Therefor, we the undersigned consumer do hereby request the Bureau of Standards begin the promulgation of standards for a national food certification system, including necessary consultations with consumer groups and the public.
