Let Students Choose Animal Dissection- or NOT

  • van: Animal Advocates
  • ontvanger: Senator Richard Blumenthal, Senator Joseph Lieberman
H.B. 5184 would allow students in Connecticut with ethical and religious objections to be able to opt out of classroom dissections and be provided with humane alternatives.

New York, Massechuttes, Rhode Island, Vermont and many other states have policies and laws that do not force students to dissect animals and are provided with modern non-animal alternatives, such as modern non-animal learning methods with interactive computer programs that teach biology just as well. The National Science Teachers Association and the National Association of Biology Teachers both support giving students a choice about whether to participate in dissection.

We ask Connecticut representatives to support H.B. 5184 and allow students with ethical and religious objections should be able to opt out of classroom dissections and be provided with humane alternatives.
