People all over the country are dressing as clowns and showing up in public places to scare people. Some target kids and try to lure them into the woods or other places. Some clowns just nod at people and stand on public corners. Some have even chased people with knives or yelled at them.
Fear of clowns is a very real phobia that many Americans suffer from. And the fact that they're wearing masks instead of face paint in most cases makes them anonymous. Schools have ramped up security and children are being warned to stay away from clowns. But I think there is more we can do.
We need Amazon to stop selling clown costumes. Anyone who is a real clown for a living will already have their costume or get it from a specialty retailer. But the creeps who are dressing as clowns just to terrorize people are likely to buy them in big retailers like Amazon.
Please sign the petition to urge Amazon to stop selling clown costumes for the rest of October and help stop this clown epidemic.
