I think it would be an awesome idea if there was a Blockbuster commercial of Carl and Ray paying tribute to Blockbuster, directed by the Carl and Ray commercials director Steve "Spaz" Williams! Enjoy the script below!
Blockbuster
Closed Forever
The commercial opens to the pet shop. Carl is looking out and sees that the Blockbuster store across the street is empty, with a sign across it saying, "STORE CLOSING" and signs on the windows saying, "EVERYTHING MUST GO!", "STORE CLOSING," and "NOTHING HELD BACK!".
CARL
Oh, no. Not Blockbuster.
Ray shows up and walks over to Carl.
RAY
Hey, Carl! What's happenin'?
CARL
Oh, Ray. This is terrible.
RAY
What? What is it?
CARL
Oh, you don't wanna see this.
Ray looks out the window and sees the closed signs on the Blockbuster store and is heartbroken. The song "Welcome to My World" starts playing in the background.
RAY
What? No... no... NOOOOOO!
Ray starts crying.
RAY
Blockbuster has closed down!
The camera cuts to Carl, who is feeling sympathy for Ray.
CARL
I'm sorry, buddy.
RAY
Oh, what is this world coming to?! Blockbuster is the greatest movie store anyone can go to! We love that store a whole bunch! Why did they have to close it?!
CARL
Ray, Ray. They had to close it because of other movie companies competing against them. Unfortunately, the other companies ended up winning against Blockbuster. And that, my friend, is proof that people can get real crazy with their money.
RAY
Ohh!
Ray throws himself onto Carl and continues to cry.
RAY
Not Blockbuster!
Carl gives Ray a warm, friendly hug, feeling bad for him. The camera cuts to the mouse walking up to Carl and Ray.
MOUSE
Hey, guys. What's going on here?
CARL
Oh, Ray was crying because he just found out Blockbuster is closing.
MOUSE
Oh, my. Well, why is it closing?
CARL
Because people are so greedy, them and their stupid companies won over Blockbuster.
MOUSE
Aw, man.
"Welcome to My World" continues to play. he mouse walks over to Ray and cries with him and Carl hugs both of them. The camera then cuts to outside the pet shop window, with Ray and the mouse still crying and Carl hugging them. The camera slowly zooms out, with words appearing that says, "Remembering Blockbuster." The song ends, the words disappear, and the scene fades out.
