Take Action to Save the Grey Parrot

If we don't do something quick, the only place you will be able to see the stunning grey parrot is in a pet store. That's because even though they are common household pets, the birds are being trapped and traded into near extinction in the wild.

Last year, they were uplisted on the endangered species Red List from “vulnerable” to endangered. In their natural habitat - the rainforests of Africa - thousands of them are captured in the wild annually. The constant harvest has depleted the populations to unsustainable levels, so much so that they are nearly extinct in some of their range. In Ghana, the population has fallen between 90 and 99% in two decades!

Something must be done.

The grey parrot is so popular because of its beautiful plumage, intelligence and long life span. They have been loyal pets to millions of people around the world. Now it is time for us to return the favor and ask for the nations with the last remaining grey parrot habitats to do something before it's too late.

Sign the petition and ask the nation of Ghana to implement a grey parrot population management plan to save the rest of the species and publicize their findings so the world can see their efforts.
