Earlier this year, Natural England declared that an unused army site by Chattenden in Kent is a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the nightingales who use it as a breeding ground. Now, the Medway District Council is attempting to build 5,000 new homes there anyway.
Currently, there is a population of more than 80 nightingales using the army site for their breeding grounds, making it one of the most successful breeding areas in Britain. Nightingales are declining, which makes this breeding ground even more significant.
If Medway District Council's challenge were to succeed, it would severely harm the nightingale population, hurting the Earth's biodiversity in the process. Please tell Medway District Council not to build on the nightingale's nesting grounds, and to find somewhere else to develop!

Natural England recently declared a site by Chattenden in Kent a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of a population of more than 80 nightingales that are using it for their breeding grounds. This makes it one of the best breeding areas in Britain, and nightingales are declining, which makes it even more important.
You all are trying to challenge this decision because of a plan to build 5,000 new homes in the area. This would severely hurt if not kill the population and hurt the Earth's biodiversity. Please build somewhere else.
