Petition to Preserve Physical Games for Console Players
Explain the Issue and Offer a Solution
For decades, physical games have been an essential part of gaming culture. Millions of players enjoy collecting, owning, trading, lending, and preserving games on disc. Unfortunately, the gaming industry is moving toward an all-digital future, where players no longer truly own the products they purchase but instead receive licenses that can be restricted or revoked.
Removing physical editions limits consumer choice, reduces ownership rights, and makes long-term game preservation more difficult. Not everyone has fast or unlimited internet access, and many players simply prefer owning a physical copy of the games they buy.
We are not against digital games. Digital distribution is convenient and should remain available. However, it should exist alongside physical releases—not replace them.
We call on console manufacturers and game publishers to continue producing physical editions of games and consoles with disc drives. Consumers deserve the freedom to choose how they purchase and enjoy their games.
Gaming should be about choice, ownership, and preservation. Let's keep physical games alive for current and future generations.
If you believe gamers should have the freedom to choose between physical and digital games, please sign and share this petition. Together, we can protect the future of physical gaming.
