STOP SCRAPPING! Preserve historic heritage of Latvian built RVR trains

This petition is regarding preserving the railway heritage primarily of Latvian trains built by Rigas Vagonbuves Rupnica which went out of business in 2017. Throughout 20th century and until 1990s lots of remarkable trains were built: ER1, ER2, ER9, ER22, DR1 and ER200 are the most famous ones. Despite of most of them having long service life in East Europe none of them are presererved as operational history for history-interested riders as well as no scale models of them were made in popular modeling scales like O (1:48 proportion), HO (1:87 proportion) and N (1:160 proportion). Though in early years iron curtain was indeed to blame until 1990s with limited access when it comes to scarcity of available model trains, more than 20 years later this is irrelevant and obsolete excuse. With internet and access to information for at least 10 years before RVR went out of business it was quite possible to gather required information to build a model of those trains. The other aspect is keeping some of those trains operational in dedicated operational railroad museums. While I acknowledge they are outdated trains technology wise and maintaining them for everyday passenger use becomes more and more costly so their replacement is inevitable nevertheless discarding history never makes a railroad or a country as a whole attractive to tourists and locals alike. So here my message is the following to various establishments:

To municipal and national councils of Baltic countries: STOP SCRAPPING REMAINDER OF THEM NOW!!! Allocate some land and money for historical railway use as well as for maintenance of few examples of historic train equipment. WHAT WILL I SAY TO MY CHILDREN IN A DECADE? "We had such and such trains in past but nothing aside from photos and videos was saved"? OR "The heritage we used to have is not worthy remembering"? I AM SORRY BUT I WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO SAY OUR HISTORY WAS LOST DUE TO GREEDY POLITICIANS IN PARLIAMENT WHO DID NOT EVEN CARE TO PRESERVE ANY PART OF HERITAGE! What kind of attitude will it form to us from future generation? Please just think of it! I know a century old streetcar that is running in a Halton Country museum, Ontario, Canada https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwbO4EY2tT4 I can get to know the history thanks to proactive people who aimed at preserving the heritage so modern people can not only imagine from photos or videos but to EXPERIENCE the past! PLEASE, DO SOMETHING BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! By the way working and running trains are key to record sound for DCC sound decoders and keeping them on the go will also simplify work for model train manufacturers. Since there are hardly any drawing or blueprint material left the remaining trains are the only hope to make a model by measuring them while they exist.

To model train manufacturers in Europe, most notable Germany and France: please look beyond your country when it comes to building model trains as some historic treasures disappear due to neglect in their own countries. Especially look into North Eastern (AKA Baltic) Europe. Their politicians for the most part are not noted for preservation of their heritage history just because something was built in Soviet timeframe, they like to add political connotation to it all the time. I am already thankful for a scale model of Soviet M62 locomotive by Roco and Czech T669 (known as ChME3 in USSR) locomotive built by Roco and Piko this however is just a tip of an iceberg.

Regardless of not so bright political past such as USSR and socialism no historic heritage deserves to be forgotten and scrapped.
