In school, Science Fairs are created to teach students about the steps needed to succeed in creating an experiment. But the stress created from doing the Science Fair every year can be diverted. We understand the procedures, and what scientists go through to make new discoveries, but there isn't a point to doing it every year. If anything, make the Science Fair an extra credit assignment, or assign it to those who wish to further their scientific discoveries.
The majority of families are financially unstable, and the cost of buying new resources for conducting a science fair can be tedious at times. Adding to stress, that in the long run can be avoided. And it doesn't make it any better if a family has more than one child to deal with during science fair season.
This petition isn't an act of rebellion, it's not meant to just get us out of doing school work. We just don't see a point in having to do an experiment every year, especially when not everyone is going to put forth the effort to actually try and cure cancer, or find out if red light is better than yellow light for the growth stimulation of Zantedeschia rehmannii. We aren't trying to get rid of the Science Fair all together; just make it less hated and more appreciated.
