Stop corporate spending against GMO labeling laws in Colorado!

People have the right to know what's in their food, and that goes beyond ingredients lists and calorie counts. Genetic modification carries serious risks such as antibiotic resistance, changing a crop's nutrition content, contamination of organic crops and introducing allergens and toxins to foods. Some believe the pros of genetically modified (GM) foods outweigh the cons, but consumers should have the right to make their own decisions on what to eat. The European Union requires GM foods to carry labels, and Colorado's Proposition 105 aims to do the same.

Unfortunately, a small group of 10 Big Food corporations -- Monsanto, DuPont, PepsiCo, Coca-Cola, Kraft, General Mills, Hershey, J.M. Smucker, Dow and Kellogg -- have poured over $13 million into Colorado to try to defeat Proposition 105. An additional $1.3 million was donated by Abbot Nutrition and Mead Johnson, who make formulas for infants and the elderly.

If there's nothing wrong with GM foods, then these companies shouldn't be ashamed to carry labels on their products. Their profit interests should not outweight the rights of consumers to make informed choices about what they eat. Please sign the petition to tell these companies to stop funding anti-GMO labeling laws!

We, the undersigned, are concerned with your significant efforts to block GMO labeling laws in Colorado.

Your profit interests should not outweight the rights of consumers to make informed choices about what they eat. We respectfully urge you to stop funding anti-GMO labeling efforts and instead use your money for better causes, like feeding the hungry.
