Mascots... Why are they important? They breed excitement, they rally the crowds, they put a smile on the faces of the fans.
The Columbus Destroyers.. An Arena Football League (AFL) team, re-established in Ohio in 2019. Previous mascot: Bruiser, The mascot now: Captain Destroyer. A charactor in black and silver 'armor', long blond wig and a mask that covers her face. She doesn't talk, she walks around (at a casual pace) with a sidekick that walks with her dressed in camo and aviator glasses. The sidekick carries the sheild and sword when Captain Destroyer repels from the ceiling. I've never seen the mascot or her sidekick dance, rally the crowd, engage enthusiastically, or show any type of excitement or emotion.
Why this petition? Hot Dog Wally is an energetic, friendly character that young and old can relate with. Hot Dog Wally entertains, he approaches all ages, engages with them, dances with them, and most of all, makes the experience of the game all the better! Hot Dog Wally jumps around, participates in fan challenges, poses for pictures and has an infectious energy!
