Please support our fight against massive fish farm in Galway Bay

The government of Ireland are proposing to sell a licence to their own fisheries board (BIM), to allow a massive salmon farm in Galway Bay. The farms there already have decimated the wild Salmon and Sea Trout, in particular, and the once world famous Sea Trout angling rivers of the area are now but a very faint shadow of their former selves. The proposed Massive farm will have a capacity of more than all the existing salmon farms in Ireland, this will wipe out the remainder of the Sea Trout, which unlike Salmon, stay inshore and for that very reason they get hit much harder than the Salmon. The damage is done by sea lice which come from the farmed salmon as they are in sea cages without any way of getting away from the lice. The wild Salmon are hit also, the smolts (young fish, of both the Salmon and Sea trout) are very small and the lice suck on to them and drain them of blood, see picture. This fish farm is being allowed for the sole purpose of getting round the ban the Chinese have on all goods from Norway, Marine Harvest, is a Norwegian company and they will sell the salmon as being Irish.

 

If this is allowed to proceed it will leave all the west and north coast rivers devoid of any wild fish and what was an excepted right to fish, all be it that it cost a lot for a licence to do so, will have gone the way of the Sea Trout and Salmon. The same minster has allowed the Irish fleet to take fish from the Atlantic, which are not for human consumption, no way, they are sent to China to be turned into fish food for their fish farms, It must be understood that these fish are not outside the food chain, so by taking these fish the fish which depend on them will have a hard time to find a replacement for them. The EU know what the affect if such a huge fish farm will have on the local area, not just Salmon and Sea Trout, but shell fish, crabs and lobsters and all marine creatures. People should know that the dye(E161g)  used to dye the farmed fish is banned, by the EU for use in food stuffs, so how can the put it directly into the fish flesh and expect people to eat that same flesh? All the farmed fish with the numerous viruses, are sold to the public to eat and nothing is said about it.

Please support this petition, the world of farmed fish, Marine Harvest in particular, are allowed to ride rough shod over the peoples wishes, all round the world, they are a multinational conglomerate which take no prisoners, they are devoid of humanity, conscience and morals. The farmed fish live in worse conditions than battery hens ever did, but they do not make any noise so they are just forgotten about. The British Food Saftey Institute have advised poeple not to eat any more than 1 portion of farmed salmon a week, that will let you understand just how bad it is for you.
