John Howe has been in prison for over 22 years, for a crime he committed when he was just 17 years old. He has served his time, become educated, become an advocate and facilitator for groups inside which promote mental and physical health and making positive life changes and choices. The time has come for his release. He will be a positive addition to society as a whole. He is no longer a threat to society.
John Howe has been in prison for over 22 years, for a crime he committed when he was just 17 years old. We the undersigned petition the State of California to release John Howe from the states custody.
He has spent over 20 years paying his debt to society. He is remorseful for his actions and should be afforded an opportunity to become a productive member of society. He has spent more years paying for his crime than he spent outside before he committed it. He has since earned his high school diploma (the crime happened his senior year), an AA degree, a BS in Social Behavior, and is almost finished with his Alchohol and Drug Counseling Certification. While incarcerated he has also become a valued leader in several self-help groups offered to prisoners. He has the skills and desire necessary to become a positive influence on others and lead a productive, helpful life.
