DEMAND THE GOVERNOR OF ILLINOIS PASSES LAW FOR PARENTS TO PETITION COURTS FOR REINSTATEMENT OF PARENTAL RIGHTS

In the state of Minnesota, a law was just passed that says a parent who's parental rights were terminated can now petition the courts for reinstatement of parental rights as long as the reason they were terminated was non-egregious, such as chemical dependency or mental illness. My hope is that we can get a law like that passed here in Illinois. Parents who have had their children taken for things like substance abuse deserve a chance at reinstating their parental rights if they have taken steps to improve their situation and fixed the issue that terminated their rights in the first place. Let's fight to get this law passed here in Illinois so all of the innocent parents can have a chance at having their child back in their lives!!! You do not need to put an address to sign this petition. Just put anything on that line. Thanks so much!!!

P.S. Illinois law already states that a parent who's rights were terminated can petition for reinstatement of rights if the child has not been put in permanent placement and the parent can now provide a safe home for the child.  This will be directed at the cases who's rights were wrongfully terminated if they can prove so, and if the child was put into permanent placement immediately after termination of rights.
